A black maple sugar shack in the woods with evaporator boiling maple syrup. Steam is coming out of the top exhaust stacks. Outside is maple sap storage tanks and equipment.

Headwaters Maple LLC is a producer of high quality maple syrup in Elk County, Pennsylvania, owned and operated by Alex Miller.

Built on a love of the outdoors, Headwaters Maple focuses on sustainable syrup production practices from tree to bottle. Connected by a tubing system, about 400 trees were tapped in 2025 and 2026 with plans for expansion in the near future. Alex works tirelessly to ensure the highest quality sap is flowing through the tubing and the best syrup comes off of the evaporator.

Alex Miller has been making maple syrup since he was 11 years old and made his hobby into Headwaters Maple at the age of 19. A native of St. Marys, nature has always been a part of Alex’s life, hunting and fishing from a young age and working through the ranks of the Boy Scouts, eventually to Eagle Scout. For Alex, Headwaters Maple is a great excuse to be in the woods and a great way to make others happy with his products.
